Stepping into life in Álamos is like landing in another world
There’s just something about this place… Maybe it’s the auspicious coordinates on the map of the world, maybe it’s the old buildings whose walls could tell many stories of times gone by, maybe it’s the eclectic mix of people, maybe it’s because there are no stoplights, maybe there’s something in the water…
The magic of Álamos is certainly enough to have kept our attention for 30 years. It’s at the end of a road, surrounded by mountains. A hidden treasure that most people don’t even know is here!
On any given day and with regularity ‘Álamos things’ happen. Random acts of kindness are common. Everyone says hello to you on the street. The mixture of people who call this place home is rich and diverse making it normal to talk to a taco vendor, a street sweeper, a playwright, a billionaire, an artist, a biologist and a ranching cowboy and all in the course of a day.
Things are all at once beautiful, majestic and a bit messy and weird. It’s the lack of perfection that somehow makes it rather fabulous. There’s not a lot to do and yet it takes all day to do it. Relaxing and siesta-ing is a natural byproduct of being here.
Beyond the narrow streets and beauty of the man made world, Álamos is surrounded by stunning natural beauty that is visible at every turn. The dramatic changing seasons of the tropical deciduous forest are a source of constant wonder.
